An Ethics Committee's Perspective on a Right to Die
The issues of a 'right to die' and 'euthanasia' have become a major sources of social controversy over the past two decades. Due in part to the convergence of advances in medical technology and patient's rights groups, the topic now confronts many families across the nation. This section looks at a number of 'hard cases' involving 'right to die' issues and solicits the help of practicing ethics committees in discussing the cases presented. One of these cases, that of a burn victim named Dax Cowart, will become a central foucs of conversation and will contain actual video interviews with the patient and his care-givers.
